Consider spring system the restoring force = -kx where k is the spring const and x is the displacement the -ve sign is to show that the force is in opp direction of x By Newton's 2nd Law of Motion Net force = ma thus -kx = ma and so a = -(m/k)x since k and m are +ve real numbers m/k can be expressed as w a = -wx Thus It is a SHM
